A true pioneer of the Techno sound, the man from Berlin knows his 808s and 909s inside out. With a flourishing career spanning over two decades he is an artist that perennially innovates, reinvents and expands his musical vision. Thomas Schumacher's productions have become blueprints for modern Techno, a signature sound that he showcases in his powerful and expertly crafted DJ sets around the globe.
His latest release on Noir Music "Natural Rhythm EP" blessed the Berliner with yet another double Top 10 triumph on Beatport. Consequently he now belongs to the club of the 10 most successful Techno producers of the second quarter of 2017 worldwide.
This year Thomas Schumacher has taken to the airwaves with his weekly radio show NOW. Every 60 minute episode is a mix of current favourites, own productions and classic choices, heightened with over 25 years of stories, guest mixes, personal views and first hand knowledge, much to the delight of his dedicated fans and listeners.
Thomas Schumacher is a key figure in establishing the Rave and Techno scene in his native city of Bremen in the early 90s. He made his first international marks with the singles “Ficken?” and “When I Rock” in 1996 on legendary Mancunian Techno label Bush. Bush was home to other groundbreaking artists like
Dave Clarke, Felix Da Housecat and Timo Maas . His single “Schall”, released in 2001, became Thomas Schumacherʼs second Top 20 chart hit in Germany with sales in excess of 150.000 units. In 1998 Thomas Schumacher founded his first label, Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten, the seminal label that spotlighted music from the likes of Adam Beyer, UMEK, Deetron and Stephan Bodzin.
In 2005 Thomas Schumacher moved to Berlin where he signed with Get Physical Music and continued to release material under the alias Elektrochemie together with Stephan Bodzin and vocalist Caitlin Devlin. He launched his second label Electric Ballroom in 2011 where he consistently releases quality music with appearances by Victor Ruiz; dubspeeka; Hot Since 82 and Simian Mobile Disco to name a few.
Thomas Schumacherʼs remix portfolio encompasses artists like Trentemoller; Afrika Bambaataa; The Knife; 2Raum Wohnung; Noir; Chicks On Speed; Monika Kruse; DJ Hell and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
